Draft for the closed beta, 29 October 2026. To be reviewed before the public launch, including against Kenya’s Data Protection Act, 2019 and the studio’s registration with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner.

Privacy policy

This explains what personal data Vennie handles, why, and what you can do about it. For the short version, read how we protect your data.

Who we are

Vennie is made by Mobterest Studio Ltd, a company registered in Kenya (“Mobterest Studio”, “we”, “us”). We are responsible for the personal data described here. Contact: mobterest@gmail.com.

What we collect, and why

Your account

Your email address, how you sign in (Google or a 6-digit email code), your name if your Google account shares it, when you joined and when you last used the app. We use this to sign you in, keep you signed in, and contact you about your account. If you sign in with Google, Google tells us your email and an account identifier; we don’t receive your Google password or anything else in your Google account.

What you type, while it’s being sorted

When you add something, the words you typed or said are sent to our server so it can work out what they mean. They are processed and discarded straight away: we don’t store or log them. They are not sent to any outside AI company.

Usage counts

Per day, numbers such as how many items you added or how many reminders you acted on, linked to your account. They never include what the items were. We use them to understand whether Vennie is useful and to improve it, and during the beta to see which testers are still taking part.

Corrections, if you choose to share them

If you switch on “Help improve sorting”, when you move a card to a different place we record only the two labels (for example “Food & kitchen” to “Household supplies”) and the date, not linked to you and never the item itself.

The waitlist

If you join the waitlist, we keep your email address and whether you asked to be a beta tester, so we can send you a confirmation and your invite. If you’re invited to the beta, we add your email to the app’s test list on Google Play so Google can let you in.

Technical information

Like any online service, our server sees your IP address when the app or this site connects to it. We use it only to keep the service running and to stop abuse, such as too many sign-in attempts. Sign-in limits keep it for up to a day, and our server logs, which record basic request details but never what you type, are deleted automatically after 14 days.

What we don’t collect

Your inventory (the items, bills, documents and notes you keep in Vennie) stays on your phone and is not sent to us. We never ask for ID, passport or account numbers, and document photos you add stay on your phone.

Our legal basis

Under Kenya’s Data Protection Act, 2019, and similar laws such as the GDPR, we rely on:

Who else handles data for us

These providers may store and process data outside Kenya, including in the European Union and the United States. Where the law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards for those transfers. We use them only for the purposes above, and we don’t sell or share your data for marketing. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Your account and its counts are kept while you have an account. When you delete your account, they are deleted. Waitlist emails are kept until the public launch, or until you ask us to remove them. IP addresses are kept for up to a day for sign-in limits, and server logs for 14 days. Corrections are kept to improve sorting; they can’t be linked to you.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to object to how we use it, or to receive a copy. Most of this you can do yourself: the Your data screen downloads everything on your phone and deletes your account. For anything else, email mobterest@gmail.com and we’ll reply within 30 days. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to Kenya’s Office of the Data Protection Commissioner, or to the data protection authority where you live.

Security

Your list is encrypted on your phone. Traffic to our server is encrypted. Sign-in records are stored only in scrambled form, and only a small team can access the servers. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data, we’ll tell you promptly.

Children

Vennie is for adults. We don’t knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update this page and, for important changes, tell you in the app or by email before they take effect.
